Obituary of Marion O. Merrithew

Marion O. Merrithew of Stockton Springs, Washington, D.C., Arlington, Va., and Belfast, died Aug. 13, 2018, at Waldo County General Hospital in Belfast. She was born in Stockton Springs on July 21, 1926, the daughter of Clyde and Orillie Merrithew. Marion graduated from Stockton Springs High School, and Beals Business College in Bangor. After employment in Bangor, she moved to Washington, D.C., where she was employed and retired from the federal government, after which she resided in Arlington, Va., for several years. In 2009, Marion moved back to Maine to be near her family. Marion was predeceased by Andrew Gergley, her companion and love of her life. As well, her sister, Alice Tsetsilas, her brother Herbert Merrithew, two sisters-in-law, Helena and Grace Merrithew, and brother-in-law George Tsetsilas. Marion is survived by two brothers, Rodney Merrithew and companion Sandra Clark, and Edgar Merrithew and wife Dolores; and by many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, and great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews. At Marion's request a private family graveside service will be held for her and Andrew. She and Andrew enjoyed traveling. They were best friends and partners for many years. They will be missed by all.
