You don’t go through an advisory for four years, seeing your students every day and feel like they’re anything less than family. Cheyenne was one of those special students I had the privilege of spending every school day with. I was always impressed with her “I am who I am” mindset. She never ceased to surprise me with her newest hair, her outfits, and her ability to be herself. She never had a fake side. She said what she meant and she meant what she said. I had one of the closest groups in the whole school, and I speak for my whole homeroom when I say that this loss is felt community wide. I mourn that we will never see her spread her wings and fly to her fullest potential. I pray for the comfort of her mother and sister, and those who truly knew the Cheyenne that I got to know.
