Obituary of Virginia A. Walker

MONTVILLE VIRGINIA A. WALKER, 79, passed away June 8, 2018 at her residence in Montville. She was born in Smithfield, Rhode Island on November 11, 1938 to Irving and Estelle (Brown) Rothwell. Virginia was raised in Rhode Island. She met her husband, Michael Walker, before moving to Maine in 1970. A devoted wife and mother, she raised her children and worked for the town of Montville as Tax Collector, elections warden and Planning board member. She was a member of the Montville Historical Society and was an avid historian. Virginia received the Spirit of America Award for her compilation of research and for her civic activities. One of her loves and passions was caring for local cemeteries in need of attention. She was predeceased by both parents, son Michael W. Walker and sister Estelle Fenner. Virginia is survived by her husband of 50 years, Michael A. Walker; her daughter Donna D. Poulin and husband Richard of Knox, son David A. Walker and his partner Lindsey Morong of Knox; siblings Irving A. Rothwell, Roy D. Rothwell, Bella Magera, Michael Magera, Irving Fenner, Joseph Fenner, Joann Earley, Christopher Rothwell. grandchildren Joel Poulin, Caitlyn Poulin, Audrey Walker, Gavin Walker all of Knox; many nieces, nephews and cousins as well as a special friend, Esther Mathieson who kept her up to date with her favorite teams, the Red Sox and the Patriots. Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. June 15th at Riposta Funeral Home, 182 Waldo Avenue, Belfast with private burial will follow at Halldale Cemetery.
