Obituary of Trisha D. McPherson

Trisha Littlefield McPherson, 48 of Thorndike passed away unexpectedly of natural causes on May 9, 2018 at her home. She was born on July 1, 1969 in Waterville the daughter of Robert and Barrie (Lowe) Littlefield. Trisha graduated from Mt. View High School class of 1988 and from University of Maine in 1992 with her bachelor’s degree in education. While at U Maine she was on the dean’s list and was a member of the Tri Delta sorority. Trisha taught in various teaching positions through her career from pre-school to elementary, but two of her special schools were Unity Elementary and St. Alban’s Consolidated School. The most important role and what made her most proud was being a mother to her two daughters. Trisha was compassionate of others, especially those who were struggling, and was dedicated to find a way to help those in need. Causes that she was particularly passionate about were substance abuse recovery and autism. Trisha liked to decorate and re-decorate her home in her spare time. She and her mother had a shared love of audio books. She also enjoyed horseback riding in her younger years, which she was re-kindling with old friends. Trisha is survived by her daughters, who she cherished, Olivia and Emma McPherson both of Thorndike and their father Keith McPherson of Albion; her mother Barrie Fernald and husband Stephen of Troy; father Bob Littlefield of Brooks; siblings Nan Simpson and husband Mitch of Brooks, Matthew Littlefield and wife Rachel of Waldo; step siblings Troy Fernald and wife Carolyn of Portland, Katie Fernald and partner Brad Bohn of Seattle, WA., Kelly Rowell and husband Eric of Palmayra, Shane Lucas of Bangor; several nieces nephews and cousins; special friends Sue Bradeen Lawrence of Topsham, Melissa Tenney of South China, Jayne Sullivan of Troy, and Angela Fowler of Thorndike. The family also wishes to thank the staff of Seaport Family Practice and the St. Alban’s Consolidated School for their love and support of Trisha. Memorial visiting hours will be held from 5-7 pm on Wednesday May 16th at the Varney Building in Brooks. A service will follow on Thursday May 17th at 4:30 pm at Brooks Congregational Church.
