Obituary of Elizabeth S. McConnell

Elizabeth Stoneham McConnell, born May 27th, 1925 in Portland, Maine to Elbridge Fernald and Rachel (Metcalf) Stoneham, passed peacefully on January 4th, 2018. Educated at Canton (M.A.) High School and Simmons College majored in Library Science. After many years as a school librarian, she married Raymond McConnell on July 14th, 1963. On retirement they moved to Exeter and Durham, N.H. and enjoyed the benefits of the university town. When lawn and snow removal became too much, they moved to a retirement community in Belfast, M.E. She loved the many happy summers at the family cottage in Southwest Harbor, visits with extended family and of course her books. “Midge” also had interests in everything from politics to religion. Raymond died in 2013, her brother Joel died in 1979. She is survived by nephews, Mark, David and Peter Stoneham and families as well as cousin Charles Stoneham.
