Our deepest condolences to Betty's family for the loss . We came to know Betty and Howard in the early 1970's when we first began to spend our summers on Sheepscot Lake and attended meetings of the Sheepscot Fish and Game Association and were frequent customers at their produce stand. Later, when I served as superintendent of School Union 51, I came to know and work with Betty who taught at the Palermo School and Howard who drove a school bus there as well. Both were among the nicest and hardest working people that I ever knew and were the backbone of the school before, during and after I arrived on the scene. Betty's profound and positive influence on the lives of hundreds of children in Palermo will be her proud legacy and a source of continuing pride for her family.
