I worked with Betty for 7 years (1984-91) at the Palermo Consolidated School. She told many stories and took me under her wing as a new Palermo resident and young colleague. We shared many, many laughs, and I always felt welcome to stop by and visit in her farmhouse kitchen. So sorry for your loss. Betty and Howard were the heart and soul of that little school.

Our deepest condolences to Betty's family for the loss . We came to know Betty and Howard in the early 1970's when we first began to spend our summers on Sheepscot Lake and attended meetings of the Sheepscot Fish and Game Association and were frequent customers at their produce stand. Later, when I served as superintendent of School Union 51, I came to know and work with Betty who taught at the Palermo School and Howard who drove a school bus there as well. Both were among the nicest and hardest working people that I ever knew and were the backbone of the school before, during and after I arrived on the scene. Betty's profound and positive influence on the lives of hundreds of children in Palermo will be her proud legacy and a source of continuing pride for her family. With much respect, Nelson and Sheila Walls Palm Coast, FL

In living memory of the Aunt I knew and loved like a mom. Her kind heart, strong convictions and love of family have always inspired me. she would not hesitate to spank my hand as I snuck a strip of corn as she helped my mother with canning, and chuckled as she did. Love you Aunt Betty.
