Obituary of Michael D. Baird

Michael David Baird Michael Baird of Canaan passed away peacefully at Togus VA Hospital in Augusta on September 13, 2017. Born April 15, 1948, he was the son of Wilbur Baird and Merrion (Florence Lombard) Baird. Michael was a quiet man who kept to himself. He loved nature, which included hunting, fishing, gardening animals and playing softball. He enjoyed collecting old insulators from telephone poles and loved woodworking and anything he could do with his hands. In his younger years Michael was is the army but was more recently a laborer. He was predeceased by his mother and father, sister Marlene Collemer and brother Charles Baird. He is survived by his children Michael Baird and wife Diane of New Russia Ohio, Ed Baird of Knox Me, and Melissa Harding and husband Stan of Searsmont, Me, as well as sister- Darlene Baird Barrows and husband David of Lincolnville Me and brother James Baird of Wisconsin. He is also survived by his grandchildren Jason, David, Myresa, Matthew, Alice, Lacey and Kyle and nephews and nieces Gary, Bert, Heather, Jonathan, Jamie, Justin and Milly. Friends include Gene Carter, Kevin Wilson, Lee Richardson, Mike Collemer and dogs Chi- Chi and Penny. A celebration of life will be held at West Rockport Baptist Church. Burial will be held in Clinton at Evergreen Cemetery. Both will be held on a later date. Special thanks to the nurses at Togus VA for the warm caring service provided to Mike while in their care.
