Obituary of Marilyn F. Leathers

BELFAST MARILYN F. LEATHERS, 85 of Belfast, passed away peacefully with her loving family surrounding her on August 15, 2017 in Belfast. She was born December 25, 1931 in Belfast to Lloyd and Sara (Knowlton) Clark Merrill. Marilyn was a life member of Northport Ladies VFW Auxiliary and the Rebekahs in Searsport. She loved dancing, cooking, traveling and enjoyed socializing. Marilyn loved spending time with family and friends, especially the grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents; her husband Ralph Leathers; two sons Rusty Thayer and Greg Thayer Sr., and brother Ronnie Clark. Marilyn is survived by her significant other, Allen Yeaton; her children, Charles “Sonny” Thayer and life partner Joanne, Merrily Stevenson and husband Earland, Carole Carson and husband Charlie, Nellie “Betty” Farris and husband Richard, Terry Thayer, Patricia “Patty” Bovee and husband Tim, Cheryl Gale and husband Bob, Paul Thayer and wife Karren, Wayne Thayer and wife Vicky, Gary Thayer and wife Terri and daughter in law Lynne Thayer; step-children Allan and Sharon Leathers and Morris and Cathy Leathers; her siblings, Lloyd “Buddy” Clark, Edwin “Teddy” Clark and wife Donna, Philip Clark and wife Bonnie, Gene Merrill, Mike Burkeck, Linda Merrill Short, Bobby Merrill, Leroy Merrill, Rhonda Merrill and Debbie Merrill; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, including Sara Pendergast who helped provide care to Nana and great-great-grandchildren as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. A celebration of Marilyn’s life will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday September 2, 2017 at the Northport Auxiliary VFW. Burial will be at Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Marilyn’s name to the Northport Auxiliary VFW c/o Secretary Patsy Littlefield 1360 Atlantic Highway Northport, ME 04849 or Waldo County MaineHealth Home and Hospice. Arrangements are under the care of Riposta Funeral Home, 182 Waldo Avenue, Belfast.
