Obituary of Claire M. Young

CLAIRE M. (MILES) YOUNG, 79, passed away July 27, 2017 in Belfast. She was born in Dumont, New Jersey on February 19, 1938 to Edward and Katherine (Major) Miles. Claire and her family moved to Belfast, Maine in her teenage years where she finished high school, graduating a year early, and meeting the love of her life Bob (Robert Young) and stole his heart. They then graduated together in 1955 and were married that same year on November 12, 1955. They then started a wonderful loving family, where Claire's love and memories will live on in her three children. While raising her 3 children, Claire and Robert ran the family business, Young's Lobster Pound, started by Bob's father and mother. They moved the business down the road onto the Penobscot Bay where they continued running it together until 2001. Even after retirement she continued to work and help out wherever and whenever she could, lending her hand and passing on her business knowledge to her family. She enjoyed traveling and fishing with Bob and her family. Mexico and Hawaii were her favorite vacation spots. She also enjoyed taking her grandchildren to every country fair possible. In addition to her parents, Claire was pre-deceased by her father and mother in law; Frederick (Bud) and Belle Young, a son-in-law Kerry Parker and sister in-law Belle Marie Snow. Claire is survived by her loving husband of almost 63 years, Bob Young of Belfast; her children Bobby Young of Troy, Dianne Parker, Ray Young and wife Katrina all of Belfast; her brother Bob Miles and wife Annie of Waldo; grandchildren, Jason Parker, Samantha Parker, Amanda Young-Williams, Kayla Young, Ben Young, Bryan Young; great-grandchildren Malik, Sawyer and Dorothy; many nieces, nephews and cousins. Family and friends are invited to call from 3-5 p.m. on Sunday, July 30th at Riposta Funeral Home, 182 Waldo Avenue, Belfast where funeral services will be held Monday, July 31st 11 a.m. A reception will follow at Waldo County Shrine Club.
