Obituary of Lillian Jones

LILLIAN “Grandma Lil” JONES, passed away peacefully at her daughter’s home in Brooks, Maine on July 23, 2017. She was born March 18, 1927 in Huntington Woods, Oakland County, Michigan. Lillian was the widow of David Andrew Jones (1928-1971), a WWII veteran. They were married October 1, 1948, Bowling Green, Ohio by Justice of the Peace and their marriage was revalidated December 23, 1953 at St. James Catholic Church, Ferndale, Michigan. After his untimely death, she became owner/operator of Bolero’s Lounge in Detroit, Michigan for approximately 10 ½ years. Lil spent many years living in Zox’s Lakeside Subdivision, Cass-Lake, Oakland County, Michigan, near many close family and friends. After retirement, she later moved to Northern Michigan, Mio-Oscoda County area, to be close to family. Recently she moved to Brooks, Maine also to be close to family. Lil will be remembered for her love of family and creative interests. She taught herself how to sculpt and painted oil portraits of many family members. She taught herself how to play the guitar and enjoyed playing music into her 90s. She also enjoyed reading, singing, and keeping up with current events. Lil was predeceased by her husband David Andrew Jones; her parents, Richard Joseph Bashaw Sr., and Kathleen A. (Tomes) Bashaw; her sister Phyllis Conrad and her brother Richard Joseph Bashaw Jr. Surviving are her children, Rebecca Lee Wolford of Waterford, MI and Bonnie Lee Ewald of Brooks, ME; her sister Audrey Elaine Edwards of Tarpin Springs, FL; her grandchildren, Erik, Brandon, Travess, Kimberly, Bridget, David and Brenda and her 15 great grandchildren. She was a beloved mother and wife during her lifetime and she will be greatly missed. As were her wishes, her body will be donated to Science.
