Obituary of Dewey Frank Fagerburg
Rev. Dewey Frank Fagerburg, Jr., 88, of Lincolnville, passed away on July 14, 2017. He was born January 12, 1929 in Evanston, Illinois to Dewey F. and Dorothy (White) Fagerburg. Dewey graduated from Williams College in 1951 with a Bachelor of Arts degree and then went on to receive his Masters of Theology from Union Theological Seminary in 1954. He spent the majority of his career as a Pastor in Woodbridge, NJ; Chicago, IL; Cleveland, OH and
Danbury, CT.
During the period from 1975 through 1985, Rev. Fagerburg was a "tent maker", also doing work beyond parish ministry and not paid by a local church. In that period, he served as volunteer Associate Minister of Shaker Heights Community Church, Director of Justice Ministry of The Cleveland Council of Churches and staff member of Community Re-Entry, a program of Lutheran Metro Ministry serving offender population. For three years, he taught the course on Corrections and Community Alternatives at Cleveland State University. He was a lifetime member of the NAACP and active in The Greater Bangor Area, Portland and Maine State Prison branches in Maine.
Rev. Fagerburg was predeceased by his parents and his sister, Charlotte. He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Joanne (Kasick) Fagerburg; children: Karin Fagerburg of Cromwell, CT, Ruth Schipizky and husband Frederick of Vancouver, BC, Anne Jacob and husband Morris of St. Louis, MO, Rachael Hudgins and husband Will of Medfield, MA, Sarah Nixon and husband Brian of Medfield, MA, Carol Began Daigneault and husband Daniel of Rockport, ME, and Ellen Began of Richmond Heights, OH; grandchildren: Anton and Paul Schipizky, Leah Menaul, Carolyn, Brian Jr, and Hannah Nixon, Adam Daigneault and wife Phillipa, and Evan Daigneault and wife Julia; great-grandchild Mahe Daigneault; sister Karin Jackson, and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be private. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Dewey's name to organization of your choice.
