Obituary of Hugh A Brawn

CLINTON - Hugh A Brawn, 70, passed away peacefully on July 9, 2017 at Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor. Hugh was born on August 27, 1946, in Hartland, to William and Alice (Springer) Brawn. He graduated from Hartland Academy in 1966 and then joined the U.S. Navy for four years. He lived in Nova Scotia for 20 years and while there he was head chef at Hotel Nova Scotian in Halifax, Nova Scotia. In December of 1990, he moved back to Maine and within a few years began work at Pride Manufacturing in Burnham. Hugh loved camping in Jackman and Abbot with his family and friends. He also loved taking the grandchildren fishing, even if it meant going in the water after a fish pole or two. Hugh also loved watching sports, whether it was his grandchildren playing them or it was watching them on the TV. His most beloved sports teams were the Red Sox and Patriots. Above everything else he loved his time with his grandchildren, who called him Puppy, and his nieces and nephews, who called him Uncle Hughie. Hugh was predeceased by his parents, William and Alice (Springer) Brawn, his late wife and mother of his children, Donna, son Stephen, brother Harland, and his sister Carolyn. He is survived by his wife, Donna (Smith) Brawn, his mother-in-law, Laura Smith, his son and wife, Trevor and Kristin Brawn, and their daughter, Lorelei, and his daughter and husband, Nicole and Jake Bouchard, and their daughter Eva. Hugh is also survived by his step-son and wife, Randy and Rachel Brodeur, and their children, McKenna and Lexi “LuLu.” Also, his step-daughter and husband, Kristi and Gary Greeley, and their children, Alyson and Colby. They may have been step-children and step-grandchildren, but Hugh loved them like they were his own. He is survived, as well, by his sister, Roberta Mower, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Hugh will be missed by so many. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, July 22 at 1:30pm at Village Cemetery in Saint Albans, with Pastor John of Dexter officiating. The family asks that those who attend wear casual attire (Red Sox or Patriots apparel if desired). The family would also like to personally thank EMMC ICU and third floor for everything they have done for us in the last four months. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to Eastern Maine Medical Center ICU.
