Obituary of Lillian W. Gilpatrick
Lillian (WASSON) GILPATRICK, 96 of Belfast, passed away on April 14, 2017 at the Waldo County General Hospital Hospice Unit. She was born September 11, 1920 in Ossipee, New Hampshire, the daughter of Joseph and Josephine (Colby) Wasson. Lillian was a member of the First Church in Belfast since 1958 as well as member of the Eight O’Clock Club. She was a lifetime member of the Eastern Star and a Cub Scout leader when her children were little. Lillian’s hobbies included reading, sewing with the group at church, traveling and cooking. One of her greatest joys was her grandchildren.
She is predeceased by both parents; her husband Leon in 1986 and eight siblings. Lillian is survived by her loving children, Jay Gilpatrick and wife Cindy of Belfast and Shelley Gilpatrick of Fairfield; grandchildren, Jennifer Hills and husband Steve, Angela Blood and husband Brian, Jason Gilpatrick; great-grandchildren, Logan, Lindsey, Lauren, Samantha, Joshua; several nieces, nephews and cousins as well as many good friends.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on April 25, 2017 at the First Church in Belfast. Interment will be held privately at Maine Veterans Cemetery in Augusta.
In lieu of flowers those who wish may make memorial contributions to Hospice Unit, Waldo County General Hospital, 118 Northport Avenue, Belfast, ME 04915. Arrangements are under the care of Riposta Funeral Home, 182 Waldo Avenue, Belfast. Memories and condolences may be shared at www.ripostafh.com.
