Obituary of James A. Waterman

James A. Waterman Sr., 92, of Knox Maine passed away at Maine General Hospital in Augusta on January 25, 2017. James was born in Belfast on January 10, 1925; the youngest son of Blanche Wallace and Charles Waterman. He went into the Navy at the age of 17 at the beginning of WWII. He served on the Ship Massachusetts out of Fall River, MA where he was a proud plank owner. He worked for Summer’s Fertilizer, Maplewood Poultry, Crowe Rope and Penobscot Frozen Foods. He enjoyed watching the Red Sox, Westerns and the News and enjoyed reading and being outdoors. James was predeceased by his parents, his brothers Robert and Charles, his sisters Grace and Lora. Surviving are his wife Evelyn of 46 years; son Jim and wife Dot of Freedom, son Jere and wife Joyce of Durham, son James of Knox; five grandsons, Kevin, Eric, Jere Jr., Kerry and Brent; thirteen great grandchildren and two great great granddaughters; three step children, Dale, Terry and Randy and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held Monday January 30, 2017 at 1:00 PM at the Riposta Funeral Home, 182 Waldo Ave., Belfast, ME 04915.
