When Jon Laitin, a journalist writing a story profiling Floyd for a magazine, was getting into a plane Floyd was going to fly, Floyd asked Jon if he was going to wear a hat. Jon asked why he wanted to know. Floyd said, "You'll need it if you get plane-sick up there!". That was Floyd...a man so many will miss. -Martha Laitin

Floyd was an iconic Maine aviator. The last of a breed whose outside the box thinking simplified aviation down to it's raw fundamentals. RIP. Duke Tomlin
