Obituary of Donald Walter DeMott

STOCKTON SPRINGS Donald Walter DeMott of Stockton Springs, Maine, age 79, died in Bangor on November 15, 2016, following a brief illness. Don, the son of Walter and Eleanor DeMott, who preceded him in death, was born on November 10, 1937 in Union, New Jersey. Don graduated from Rutgers University with a degree in Accounting and from New York University with a degree in Economics. He had worked for Arthur Anderson in New York City for many years and finished his career at the MSPCA in Boston. After retiring to Stockton Springs, he served as the Charter President of the Village of Stockton Harbor. Don is survived by his wife of twenty-eight years, Michele Kirkman DeMott, and his sister, Elaine Hoerning of Little Egg Harbor, New Jersey. He is also survived by his children, Brian Demott of New Hampshire; Kirsten Seavey of Nashua, New Hampshire; Kent Demott; Matchett Demott; Megg Demott of Manchester, New Hampshire; Tobey Yeates of Chicago, Illinois, and Heather Escobar, of Medford, Oregon. He is survived by 13 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren who called him GagaDon. In his retirement, he bought a sailboat, Miss Cricket, and had a fantastic time sailing on the Penobscot Bay. He enjoyed golf, gardening, hiking, the New England Patriots, politics and he loved to read history books. He had travelled to all fifty states and one of his last trips was on the Santa Fe Trail after reading a diary on the area. Donations may be made to the Ocean Marine School Foundation, P. O.
