Obituary of Darryl Thomas
Darryl D. Thomas, 79, passed away after an extended illness on August 14, 2016 at home with loving family by his side. He was born July 30, 1937 in Waterville, Me, the son of Saliem Thomas and Shirley (Durgin) Thomas.
Darryl graduated Portland high school 1955 and joined the Air Force. He worked his entire life in sales. He retired from Bangor Wholesale (Sysco) due to illness. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and golfed with his special threesome in Connecticut as well as Maine. He was proud to get his 1st Hole-in-one on the 10th hole at Sugarloaf golf club on September 6, 1986. He was very active in the Masons and Sphinx Scottish Rite in Connecticut.
Darryl was predeceased by his parents; son Darryl Douglas Thomas, Jr.; sister Sheila Thomas; and two brothers: David Wright and Michael Thomas. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Amber Lea (McMannus) Thomas; two daughters: Lisa (Thomas) Reimer and Heather (Thomas) Artus; one son Michael Ellis, six grandchildren: Josh Ellis, April DelGreco, Noah & Sadie Reimer, Patrick & Michael Sheehy, two great-grandchildren Sadie & Jana. He also leaves behind six sisters: Mona Button (Thomas) and husband Skip, Rebecca (Thomas) Bennett, Judy Gagne and husband Dick, Dottie Fontaine (Greenwood) and husband Tom, Diane Greenwood, Lori Thomas and two brothers: Richie Greenwood & wife Jeanne, and Wadeah Thomas.
Darryl requested no services, but a celebration of his life will be held at his home August 27, 2016 at 1:00pm.
