Winterport, ME – Julie Anne (Fairbrother) Otting, 63, died June 24, 2026. 

She was born May 16, 1963, in Rockville, CT., the daughter of Jim and Jan Fairbrother. 

Julie spent her childhood in Connecticut and her teenage years in Maine, where her parents were from. She graduated from Searsport High School in 1981. Julie spent many years after high school in Arlington, Texas, where she was a technical illustrator for the government. In her mid 20’s, she was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis (MS), a disease that impacted her throughout her life. Not long after, she moved to Plum Island, Massachusetts to raise her family. Once her children were grown, she moved back to be with her family in Winterport, ME, where she spent her remaining years bird watching, listening to her favorite music, and tending to her glorious plant collection. Her kindness and humor live on in those that were close to her.

Julie was predeceased by both of her parents, most of her aunts and uncles, as well as her favorite niece, Cherish Lang. She is survived by her children, Ian Otting and Kate Otting, her brother, Mike Frost and wife, Joy, her sister, Vicki Johnson, her aunt, Ruby Laskey, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A service will be held on Saturday, July 18th, 2026, at the Frankfort Congregational Church, 42 S. Main St, Frankfort, ME at 1pm. A reception will follow at the home of her sister at MidCoast Marine, 20 Seabreeze Ln, Winterport, ME.  Memories and condolences may be shared with her family on her tribute wall.
