Jolean Marie Tupper Obituary
Jolean M. Tupper, 73, of Unity, Maine passed away at a nursing facility in Skowhegan on June 2, 2026, with loved ones by her side. Born in Hartland, ME, she grew up in Pittsfield where she attended Pittsfield schools and graduated from MCI. She enthusiastically attended the Nazarene Church and made many lifelong friends there that she remained close with throughout her lifetime, particularly Bonnie Greenwood (Raymond), who was by her side at passing, and Mary Dyer, both of Palmyra. It was also where she met and married her first husband, Howard Sisco, Jr., in 1972, and in 1975 began starting their family; dedicating their children to the Lord. They frequently sang together before the congregation, and Howard played the guitar. She began working at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Bangor, ME in 1970 where she was a CNA, at which time she rented a room in Bangor from Ellen Lambert, who became like a mother to her, and later would be lovingly known as Grammy Ellen to her children. While boarding there she met Belinda, who would become one of her closest, sweetest, and dearest friends and would remain as such throughout her lifetime; even visiting often during her tenure at the nursing facility until the end. She always loved the days and times they spent together. After her marriage to Howard and during her work in healthcare as a hospice aid, Jolean would meet her second husband, Frederick Tupper of Unity, while caring for his mother. They wed in August of 1984 and remained happily married until his passing in March 1998. Jolean was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, (lovingly referred to as Grammy and Gigi) and aunt, who will be remembered for her sense of humor, laughter, ability to make others laugh, long competitive scrabble games, craftiness, always beautifully singing no matter what task she was doing, her deep love of her sister, fishing, fiddleheads, blackberries, swimming. She was proud of her Irish roots and her Maine Yankee ingenuity. She spent many years working as a CNA and hospice aid in Waterville, as well as an MHRT-C in the mental health field. She consistently ensured that holidays and special occasions were enjoyable for the clients she supported by providing craft and baking supplies to facilitate engaging activities and celebrations. She is survived by her daughter, Jessica Sisco Palmer; son, Adam Sisco; Granddaughters, Alyssa Turcotte and Kristen Drew; Great Grandchildren, Chloie and Broderick Turcotte, Ivy Palmer, and Theodore Drew; Sister, Shelby Searles; and nephews, James Dodge, Daniel Dodge, Jerome Dodge, Jr., Gary Roberts, Jr., and a special niece, Deanna Torrance Robinson (daughter of Avon Roberts), a very special great-niece, Jessica Dodge, and several other great-nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Margaret and Winfield Roberts; infant brother, Terry Roberts, brothers, Avon Roberts, Mannie Roberts, and Gary Roberts; niece, Molly Dodge; precious infant son, Christopher Tyler Sisco; husband, Frederick Tupper.
