Harold Dyer Obituary

Harold was born February 21st, 1954, in Belfast Maine and passed away peacefully May 28th, 2026, at his home surrounded by his family in Belfast.

Harold loved his community and he loved living in Belfast. His combined 89 years of service to the city of Belfast showed that. He really loved helping others and meeting new people. He worked for the water district for 42 years and was a volunteer firefighter for 47 years. Harold was loved by many in his community, and everyone knew who he was. It seems everyone in Belfast has a story about Harold.

After retiring in 2020, Harold enjoyed visiting Goodwill, where he often helped staff put items away. He also liked going to the soup kitchen to socialize with friends. He took walks around town, stop to visit with people, and often visited Water District job sites to watch the work being done. Harold loved tinkering and frequently brought home items from the transfer station to repair. Harold was very proud of his family, especially his grandson Noah, he often talked about him to anyone who would listen. He loved being papa, he would light up every time he saw Noah. He was one of the first people to hold Noah after he was born and the joy on his face was unlike we have ever seen.

Harold was predeceased by his parents Florance and Harry Dyer and his brother Harry.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years Cathy, his son Henry and his grandson Noah as well as many nieces and nephews and cousins.

A grave side service will be announced at a later date.

Husband, Dad, Papa we love you so much.
