Edwin L. Larrabee Obituary

Edwin Leroy Larrabee, 83, passed away on April 24, 2026, following a period of declining health due to complications related to Parkinson’s disease. He was born in Knox on February 5, 1943, to Denby and Geneva Larrabee and attended Morse High School in Brooks.

Edwin and his late wife of 33 years, Romona (Bradford) Larrabee, operated a farm in Knox where they raised beef cattle and chickens. He also served the local school district as a school bus driver while Romona worked as a cook at Mount View High School. He closed the farm following her death in 1995.

Edwin dedicated his life to hard work, a value evident to all through his careers as a farmer and a school bus driver. His commitment to providing for his family and community was unwavering, and he took great pride in his work. He was recognized on October 10, 2019, by SAD 3 for his 47 years of dedication to the district as a school bus driver, driver trainer, and mechanic. In 2010, Edwin and his brother Glen sold a parcel of their farmland to the founders of New Beat Farm through the Maine Farmland Trust, helping preserve agricultural land in the area.

Beyond his professional life, he was passionate about hunting, snowmobiling, four-wheeling, and dancing, activities that brought him much joy and allowed him to form lasting friendships.

He is survived by his daughters, Laurie Osgood (Bruce) of Belfast, Lisa Ross (Timothy) of North Anson, and Amy McElroy (Jeffrey) of Carmel. He also leaves behind a brother, Glen Larrabee (Brenda) of Belfast; and six grandchildren, Kathleen Spencer, Kristine and Kariann Osgood, Jacob Cleaves, Kimberly McElroy, Brian McElroy, Kelsey Perkins, and Devin Ross, along with eight great-grandchildren.

Interment will be at the Kenney Cemetery in Brooks. Services will be private at the convenience of the family.
