Linda D. Hoar Obituary

Linda Davis Hoar

November 16, 1955 – April 10, 2026

---

Linda Davis Hoar, age 70, passed peacefully from this world into her heavenly home on April

10, 2026. On November 16, 1955, in US Forces Occupied Heidelberg, West Germany, Linda

was born the daughter of Arlene (Hammond) and Roger Robert Davis Sr., while her father

proudly served with the United States Army.

Linda grew up across the southern US as a member of a dedicated military family. She

graduated from York High School in Yorktown, Virginia in 1973, and attended the University of

Maine at Orono, returning to the state her parents and extended family called home. It was

there she met the love of her life, Wayne Hoar, and the two were united in marriage in 1975.

From there, the couple built a life full of new places and lasting friendships. Wayne’s career with

the USDA led them to multiple places around the state, with their longest stays in Farmington

and Guilford. After retirement, they embraced a quieter chapter, moving to a smaller home in

Unity. Wherever life took them, Linda used her artistic talents to bring blessings to her neighbors

and friends. Whenever a new vase of flowers or a new piece of art popped up unexpectedly,

Linda was likely behind it.

In her later years, Linda faced a number of health challenges with quiet strength and grace. She

is now free from all pain, resting in the eternal embrace of her Savior, Jesus Christ.

Linda was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Rodney Davis, his wife Karen, and her

nephew Benjamin Davis.

She is survived by her devoted husband Wayne; her daughter Ellen McBride, son-in-law Matt,

and their two daughters Claire and Lilli; her brother Roger Davis and his wife Vicki; her sister

Diana Davis; her brother Richard Davis and his wife Debbie; her longtime friends Lucretia Smith

and Jeff Patterson; and many nieces and nephews.

In keeping with Linda's wishes, a simple graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on May 9 at

Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Dexter, Maine, in lieu of a formal funeral. Guests are encouraged to

dress for the weather. Should guests choose to bring flowers, the family requests only simple

bouquets, perhaps picked from a garden, in memory of Linda’s lifelong love of freshly picked

flowers. Please, no formal arrangements.

For those who wish to honor Linda's memory with a contribution, donations may be made to the

Unity Ambulance Service, PO Box 24, Unity, ME 04988., whose kindness was a great comfort to Linda and her family during

the final weeks of her life.  Memories and condolences may be shared with her family on her tribute wall.
