Charles Courant passed away in his sleep at age 93 on April 6, 2026. He was born in Gloucester, Massachusetts to Edward Courant and Martha Haskins. He is survived by three brothers, five children, many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and one great, great-grandchild.

Charles graduated from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute with a degree in Chemical Engineering, followed by a long successful career in the paper industry in Maine. He was a Lieutenant in the US Navy during his younger years. His affinity for the ocean and boats followed him for the rest of his life. Charles loved the town of Belfast and his many wonderful friends, who supported him and brought him much joy through the final years of his life.
