Clair “Sonny” Maynard Fields leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter and warm memories that will forever be held in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him.


Born April 16, 1942 to Pearl and Kip Grant. Sonny was born with a spirit that would touch the hearts of many. He faced each day with a love, humor and unwavering dedication to his friends and family.


Professionally Sonny was a Navy man 1960-1963 and continued on to work for L.O. Gross and Son, Dick Nash and then Bath Iron Works for over 20 years.


The core to Sonny’s life was his role as a devoted husband to his wife of 62 years Anna. Their marriage was an inspiration to many. Serving as a testament of a strong and enduring partnership built on a foundation of love. Sonny also had two children, Clifford and Pamela. He instilled in them the value of integrity, kindness and most importantly offering a shining example of how to be a great person. Sonny’s unwavering support and encouragement were instrumental in their lives. In addition Sonny cherished his 6 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.


He was predeceased by his mother Pearl, father Kip and stepfather Ernest Jackson.


As we bid farewell to Sonny, we take comfort in the knowledge that he will continue to live on in the hearts and memories of those who love him.


A memorial is scheduled for March 7, 2026 1:00pm at the Faith Temple Church of God in Belfast.
