Cheryl "Cheri" L. (Matetich) Starke, 62, passed away at Portland- Maine Medical Center on December 15, 2025 surrounded by loving family. Cheri, born in Reading, PA on Oct. 9, 1963 was the oldest of three children of the late George and Diane Matetich. There she graduated from Central Catholic High School and later became a legal secretary.

In 2004, she followed her dream to move to Maine with her family. In her later years she met the love of her life, Wesley Butler, and settled in Searsport where they spent many happy years together. Cheri very much enjoyed fishing, hiking, Jimmy Buffet and had a deep passion for football that she instilled in many around her. She also had a love for all animals, however her love for dogs was unmatched.

Cheri was a devoted mother and grandmother who had a very vibrant personality that never went unnoticed in any setting. She was certainly the life of the party and will be greatly missed. Cheri was predeceased by her brother Gregory Matetich. She is survived by her fiance Wesley Butler, her son Cory Starke (and spouse Crystal Starke), four beautiful grandchildren and her sister Cindy (Matetich) Madary.

A service will be held at First Congregational Church of Searsport with a date to be announced within this month.  Memories and condoleces may be shared with Cheri's family on her tribute wall.
