Keith Laurence Pendleton Obituary

Islesboro — Keith Pendleton, affectionately known as “Pinky,” passed away unexpectedly on December 15, 2025, at the age of 61.

Keith was born on September 28, 1964, to Laurence and Geraldine (Dodge) Pendleton. He was a proud graduate of Islesboro Central School, Class of 1982, and spent his life deeply rooted in the island community he loved.

Following graduation, Keith took on a variety of jobs, including painting for his Uncle Ev, before purchasing the island trash business from David Speed in the mid-1980s. He later worked for many years as a deckhand with the Maine State Ferry Service. For more than 30 years, Keith served as Golf Course Superintendent at the Tarratine Club, where his mechanical ingenuity made him indispensable. No matter the age or condition of the equipment, Keith could keep it running. His dedication and expertise were instrumental in the Club’s achievement of becoming one of only seven golf courses in Maine certified by Audubon International as a Golf Course Sanctuary.

Keith was also a longtime member of Islesboro’s Shellfish Committee and was known throughout the island as someone who would help anyone, anytime. Generous with his time, skills, and heart, Keith quietly supported his community in countless ways.

In 1984, Keith met the love of his life, Tina Leadbetter. They married in May of 1989 and shared 36 years together, raising three children—Brittney, Roxanne, and Kaden—who were his greatest joy.

Keith was predeceased by his parents, Laurence and Geraldine Pendleton. He is survived by his devoted wife, Tina; his children, Brittney, Roxanne, and Kaden; his siblings, Kenneth Pendleton of Northport, Kerry Pendleton of Islesboro, Linda (Pendleton) Gallant and her husband Joe of Belfast, and Lorraine Pendleton and her partner Mark Craig of Islesboro; his special Aunt Fern Dodge of Islesboro; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Keith will be remembered for his kindness, warm smile, quick wit, and remarkable mechanical skill. Always ready with a friendly greeting or a helping hand—whether in passing, on the golf course, or in the middle of a long day’s work. His steady presence, good humor, and genuine care for others were a gift to his family, friends, and the entire Islesboro community. His absence will be deeply felt.
