Helen H. Skinner Obituary
Helen Hews Skinner, 92, of Belfast, passed away on Oct 12, 2025, with her family by her side.
Helen was the daughter of Roscoe and Freda Hews, born on April 10, 1933, in Ashland, Maine. She resided in The County until she attended and graduated from Farmington Teachers College. She married long-time friend and first-love, Dana Lorenzo Skinner, and together they moved to Belfast. Here, she taught for a few years until they had their three children on the farm. She was skilled at playing the piano, serving in the music ministry in church as well as accompanying her mother or son in special performances. Once her children flew the coop, she became employed at Tall Pines as Assistant Activities Director, until her husband moved her to Hampden. She served at the Phillips-Strickland House until they moved back to Belfast, where her husband passed, and she was reunited with friends by residing at Harbor Hill until she passed.
Helen is survived by her brother Dana Hews of Crouseville, ME; her sister Althea Walton of Scarborough, ME; her 3 children, Michael Skinner of Williston, VT, Cheryl and Eric LeBlanc of Searsport, ME, and Carol and Linwood Knowlton of Swanville, ME. She was a wonderful Mammie to seven grandchildren: Jennifer and Hao Lieu, Linsey Herrick, Adrienne LeBlanc, Leah Skinner and her fiancé, William, Dayna-Mae and Kameron Dow, Theo and Lisa LeBlanc, and Chase Skinner. Finally, six great-grandchildren, Esther and Jude, Colton and Leighton, Odin, and Brayden. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
A private graveside service will be held at a later date.
