Jessica (Howard) Smith passed away peacefully in her bed with her husband Wes by her side, on the morning of Sept. 3rd 2025 at the age of 37, after a long battle with brain cancer. She leaves behind her loving husband, parents Lenny and Julie Howard, and brother Justin. She had a great many devoted friends through her work at the hospital and as a medical assistant, and in her personal life as well. She touched countless lives.
She loved food, music, her husband Wes, her dog Duke, and her many lifelong friends in whose company she traveled to Mexico, the Caribbean, the Bahamas and the UK. Her friends and family remember her as friendly, kind, and loving, as “a bright light for all of us”, and celebrate her courage and her unshakeable positive energy,
She was a warrior; she fought bravely and lived her life to the fullest since her diagnosis in 2012. Now she is at peace.
We were all very fortunate Jessie had ten years in remission, full of health and life after she won her first round with cancer. We are thankful for the great care she received from the people at the Harold Alfond Cancer Center, especially her oncologists, Dr. Polkinghorn and her oncologist from Southern Maine, Dr. Lu- Emerson.
She will be dearly missed by all.
A celebration of life will be held on Oct. 11 at 3pm at the Searsport Community Center. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the National Brain Tumor Society at https://nbtsevents.braintumor.org/fundraiser/6540893, or to the charity of your choice.
