Francois H. Roy

September 1933 – July 2025

Francois H. Roy, 91, of Belfast, Maine, passed away peacefully July 20, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Liberty, Maine, to Francois D. Roy and Blanche Wing, Francois was a proud graduate of Walker High School and stayed a devoted son of Maine throughout his life.

He served honorably in the United States Army from October 1955 to October 1957—a chapter he remembered with quiet pride and humility. After his military service, Francois returned home to build a life grounded in faith, hard work, and family.

He married the love of his life, Faye Littlefield of Belfast. Together they shared 59 years of deep companionship and joy. They raised two children: Lt. Col. (Ret.) Francois H. Roy II (wife Dardi), and Cris-Annette Nicholas (husband Timothy)—both a constant source of pride and blessing.

Francois was a beloved grandfather to six grandchildren: Matthew Roy; Caitlynn Nash and her husband, Jacob; Caleb Roy and his wife, Micah; Ashleigh-Erin Nicholas; Corey Nicholas; and Damien Nicholas.

Francois is survived by his brother, Richard Roy, as well as several brothers- and sisters-in-law, all of whom held a special place in his heart. He is also survived by his niece Laurie Lee, who, together with his daughter, helped provide hospice care during his final days. He is lovingly remembered by many other nieces and nephews who deeply adored him and will fondly recall his kindness and quiet humor.

Francois had a deep love for the outdoors—fishing, hunting, and simply being in nature brought him peace. He especially enjoyed watching birds and other wildlife from his kitchen table, often in the company of his beloved pets, who were never far from his side. In his final working years, he proudly served as a Park Ranger at Fort Knox in Prospect, Maine.

A man of deep faith, Francois lived a life of quiet service and unwavering devotion to God and his family. He faithfully served in the ministries of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Belfast and Faith Bible Baptist Church in Searsmont.

Francois’s life was a testament to enduring love, humble service, and steadfast faith. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
