Margarete W. Dobbins Garnett

Margarete Winona Dobbins Garnett, 87 yrs., passed away quietly July 4, 2025 after a long illness.  It seems only fitting that a woman of Margaretes strength and self reliance, should exit this world on Independence Day.

Margarete was born Dec. 29, 1937 in Searsport, Maine, to Etta Wright Dobbins and Woodrow Dobbins, but raised in Machias by Etta and Charles Saddler.  Margarete spent her youth growing up on the banks of the Machias River and graduated from Machias Memorial High School.   After marrying William Garnett, they began a family and moved to the Masons Bay District of Jonesport, where they lived for over 60 yrs.  Margaretes biggest and most important job, was raising her family, but she still held numerous jobs in food service.  Many remember her delicious food and baked goods from McKenzies, Court Street, Tracy's, Zacrys, and Tom's Mini Mart.

Margrete is survived by her children, Joyce (Robert) Pittman, Jane (Dean) McGray, Joline (Mitchell) Bowers, Glenn (Vicki) Garnett and Julia Crowley; grandchildren, Nicki, Anita, Danielle, Ryan, Corey, Saydee, William,  Kacey and Kristin; great grandchildren,  Kai, Alyssa, Conner, Lauren, Willow, Naomi, Wesley, Brooklyn, Hunter, Easton, Jaren and Rosie; and sibling Clarence.  Also some special friends and neighbors, Jon, the Sawtelles and her "girls" at Seal Cove. 

She was predeceased by her parents, husband of over 67 yrs William, son Gerald and granddaughter Holly.
