Obituary of Beatrice L. Maxwell
Beatrice “Bea” (Lenfest) Maxwell, 86, of Sebring, Florida previously of Swanville, Me. Passed away on May 26, 2025 at her home in Florida.
She was born in Belfast October 1, 1938, the second of seven children born to James Lenfest, Sr, and Bernice Aldus. After graduating from Crosby High School class of 1956, Bea married Norman Grant and raised three daughters Bonnie, Tammy, and Trudy. Bea took in her twin siblings, Carolyn and Darlene when their mother, Bernice, passed.
Bea had a strong work ethic, working full time while raising her children and younger siblings. Bea’s primary employment was with Truitt Bros, Inc. while living in Maine.
Bea moved to Florida approximately 34 years ago. Bea never regretted her move to Florida. She loved the warm climate. She was never without her sweater when she made her annual summer visits to Maine.
While in Florida Bea met lots of people and made everlasting friendships. While working in a rehab program, Bea met her friend MaryAnne Barber. The two shared lots of special times including special get-togethers at Dee’s Restaurant.
While working as a caregiver in Florida, Bea met her friend Sharon Hardy. Sharon was always there to spend quality time and to lend a helping hand.
Bea was a long-standing member of the First Baptist Church of Lake Josephine. Bea had several friendships within the church community, including her special friendship with Carol Tracey. Carol and Bea often enjoyed lunch after their Sunday church service. Pastor Ahrens referred to Bea as “Zippi” ever since her zip lining adventure with granddaughter Laurie.
Bea met William “Bill” Maxwell late in life and the two were united in marriage. Bea often expressed how happy she was with Bill.
Bea was predeceased by her late husband William Maxwell, father, James Lenfest Sr., mother, Bernice Aldus, brothers, James Lenfest Jr., and Eldon Lenfest.
Bea leaves behind siblings Alice Robbins, Patty Howie, Caroline Smart and Darlene Perkins, daughters Bonnie Grant and daughter Laurie Grant, Tammy Cook (Terry) daughters Jessica and Desiray, Trudy Norman (Boyd), daughter Angela Flannery, son Boyd Norman Jr... Bea leaves behind ten great-grandchildren, special others Michael and Cindy Larrabee, children Natishia, Meghan and Justine, Bea’s nieces Debbie Freeman and Wendy Smith.
A celebration of Life service will be held at Lake St. George State Park 11AM on Friday, June 27th.
