
Obituary of Robert Lewis Sanborn Sr.
Robert Lewis Sanborn Sr. "Bob" passed away on June 5, 2025, age 89, at Waldo County General Hospital in Belfast, Maine. He was born in Castine, Maine, March 21, 1936, the son of the late George and Olive (Ryan) Sanborn Sr.
Bob was an honest, hardworking man, as well as a great provider. He was employed as foreman at Penobscot Poultry for many years, then at McCrumb Frozen Foods. He loved life and enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping, but mostly he was a lobsterman at heart.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Priscilla (Doliber) Sanborn. Their marriage was a true testament of love, respect and commitment. He is also survived by his sons Wayne R. Sanborn Sr. of Searsport, Wade Sanborn of Blue Hill, and Duane McDonough and his wife Carol of Florida; his daughter, Lisa Sawyer of Searsport; his grandchildren, Ryan Sanborn and his wife, Mandy, Sabrina Gabriel and her husband John, Chris Sawyer, Bridget Sawyer, Wayne R. Sanborn Jr., and Amber Morelis; as well as nine great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his son, Robert Lewis Sanborn Jr. "Bobby" of Searsport; his five brothers, Herbert, George Jr. "Pappy", Harold, William and Phil Sanborn; as well as three sisters, Evelyn Hutchinson, Effie Orcutt and Jean Louise Sanborn.
