
Obituary of Charlend Wayne Howard
Charlend Wayne Howard " C.W.", 84 of Stockton Springs, ME, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family and loved ones.
Charlend was born in Farmington, ME. on February 4, 1941, to his mother Glenys and Kenneth Howard. He grew up in the Waldo County area with his siblings Francina and Ken. He attended Searsport High School, graduated and went into the U.S. Air Force in 1959. He was stationed in several places, including the Philippines, Iceland, Okinawa, Indianapolis, New Hampshire, and Texas. C.W. was a Vietnam Veteran stationed in Plaku from 1969 to 1971. He spent 27 years in the Air Force, ranking as a Senior Master Sergeant, retiring in July of 1986 before he and his family moved to Maine.
He worked in Maine for a few companies, such as managing The Movie Gallery in Belfast, Me and then went on to drive for Quirk until he fully retired.
Charlend loved to spend time with his wife, taking trips and seeing the sights. He also loved to spend time with his children and grandchildren. He liked to have BBQs and tons of people around. He liked to go fishing and hunting. He also loved to sit and read a good book.
He married the love of his life, Katie, in 1963. They spent 61 years together, having three beautiful children, Tina, Charlend, and Tamara.
Charlend is survived by his loving wife Katie Howard of Stockton Springs. His three children, daughter Tina Settle, her husband Dion, and their two children, Dion Jr. and Samantha, and three great-grandchildren of Texas; son, Charlend Howard and his wife Karen of Pittsfield, his two children, Rozemary and her husband and one great grandchild of Seattle, and son Charlend Howard of Pennsylvania; daughter Tamara Bishop of Stockton Springs and her three children Eric Bishop and his wife Ariel and three great grandchildren Mariah Bishop and fiancé Evan Bryant and three great-grandchildren of Swanville, Andrea Bishop and her fiance Dakota of Searsmont; his sister Francine Moody of Strong, Me; best friend's Jack and Judy Dean of South Dakota; dear loving, loyal dog Lady; along with many nieces in Maine.
Charlend is predeceased by his loving mother Glenys Dunaver, stepfather, Harrold Dunaver; father Kenneth Howard; brother Kenneth Howard; best friends Jim Jones and James Fox; son in law Adam Bishop.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be given to his wife Katie Howard to help with the funeral costs.
A funeral will be held at 11 am on Thursday, May 29, 2025 at Riposta Funeral Home 182 Waldo Ave. Belfast, Me. 04915.
