Frank was born in Springfield, Massachusetts on March 5, 1951. He lived in Springfield almost his entire life until 2019 when he was able to realize his dream of living in a cabin in the woods of Maine.
He passed away peacefully on March 26, 2025, surrounded by his favorite things.
He was predeceased by his father, Orville Harris Tift and his mother, Jeanette Munro Tift.
Frank leaves his sister Cheryl Nevius and her husband Gary, who lived next door. He also leaves three nephews – Jesse Nevius and great nephew, Braxton of Fall River, MA; Justin Nevius and his wife, Megan Turner, and great niece Abigail and great nephew Jonah of Brunswick, ME; and Tyler Nevius and his wife, Kate of Lincolnville.
A graduate of Springfield Technical High School, Class of 1969, Frank was an avid reader and history buff. He could talk about almost anything and provide facts from his trove of knowledge. For a time, Frank took pride in creating elaborate air-brush paint designs on vehicles and motorcycles; mostly his own, but he also did custom work for friends. A highly skilled machinist, Frank worked for many years for Wilderness Mold of Northampton and West Hatfield, Massachusetts.
Frank was a unique and remarkable person, a kind and considerate soul, and a loyal son and brother. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends. A private inurnment was held at the Springfield Cemetery Columbarium, Springfield, Massachusetts.
