
Obituary of Marlene J Thompson
Marlene Joyce Braley Thompson was born October 6, 1936. She passed away peacefully on March 22, 2025.
She is survived by her husband of 70 years and three months Clifford Thompson, her daughter Rochelle Shaw, son in law Phil Shaw and their daughters Jess Toig and Nastassja Shaw. She is also survived by her grandchildren Shannon Buttermore, Chris Thompson , Sienna Gilmore and Brian Thompson. She has 11 great grandchildren.
Marlene was proceeded by three Sons, William, Bruce, Brian and her brother Raymond Braley and sister Barbara Kimball
She was born in Troy Maine and lived in Dixmont Maine throughout her teenage years. She attended Dixmont corner school and graduated from Newport High School. She met Clifford the summer of 1953. They enjoyed dancing, playing cards, horseshoes and volunteering. For many years They were the head of the square dancing convention.
Marlene and Clifford built a successful chicken sexing business in Jackson Maine that serviced the area for over 30 years. After retiring, she worked at the Unity Railroad for eight years and was a celebrated volunteer at the Brooks Varney for many years until her health declined.
She became a Reiki master in 2003 and practiced daily for over 20 years. Marlene was the head of the Jackson Veterans Memorial and a Deacon at the Brooks Congregational Church where she attended regularly.
She spent most of her time outside, gardening and tending to the land, and loved watching her birds. She was loved by all who knew her and will be deeply missed.
Her services will be held at the Brooks Congregational Church on April 13th at 1:30.
