John William Mahoney, 89, passed away peacefully on January 30, 2025 at Sussman House in Rockport, Maine. He was born on September 19, 1935, in Boston, Massachusetts to John and Jennie (Horton) Mahoney.

He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years Betty Ann and their two children Terri Mahoney of Northport, Maine, Michael Mahoney and his wife, Lisa of El Dorado Hills California, their daughter, Hanna and husband Matt Dugoni of San Francisco, California. John is also survived by his brother, Peter Mahoney of Warren Maine along with many nieces, nephews, and his dog Shelby. He is predeceased by his parents, his brother Richard and his sister-in-law Jackie Mahoney.

John grew up in Easton, Massachusetts and summered in North Eastham on Cape Cod. He graduated from Oliver Ames High School in 1954, attended Kents Hill School in Maine, and Burdett College of Business in Boston. He married Betty Ann Tierney in 1960 and pursued a career in the sales and distribution of medical imaging equipment, eventually owning his own company in New Hampshire. John and Betty Ann raised their two children in Norwalk and Wilton, Connecticut. They resided in New Hampshire for fifteen years then retired to Maine in 2005.

John had an eternally warm spirit, always looking to make all around him feel welcomed and appreciated.
