Obituary of Meldon Giles Curtis

MELDON G. CURTIS, 69 of Searsport, Maine went to be with the Lord on November 12, 2024 at Sussman Hospice House in Rockport, Maine.   

Meldon is predeceased by his mother, Ruby Curtis, father Grover Curtis, sister, Netti (Curtis) Beatham and Darlene Curtis.  

Meldon is survived by his fiance, Lillie Maddocks, Susanne Grindel who he called Mom, and his family, Lawrence Curtis and girlfriend Jane of Belfast, Rodney Curtis and wife Mary of Old Town, sister Lydia May of Green, Fred Curtis of Gainsboro, Tennessee, Mike Curtis of Searsport, Sharon M. Pomeroy of Searsport, Darrell Curtis of Carmel, Darlene Chubbuck of Orono, Sheila Mayhew of Searsport, Norman Curtis, Dolly and husband Wayne of Florida, Marlene Curtis.

 

Meldon enjoyed playing cards with his best friend of many years, Peggy Morang.  Meldon was a lifetime member of Tarratine Tribe #13 of Belfast, known as IORM, Improved Order of Redman.  He was a Bingo caller at Tarratine Tribe #13 for many years, loved playing Bingo, spending time with his cat, Gizmo and playing baseball.  Meldon loved watching the Dallas Cowboys football on television, enjoyed Nascar racing, spending time with friends and shopping.  He also loved the Boston Red Sox, singing karaoke and dancing at Country Rose in Belfast.

 

Meldon quit school in the 10th grade to help his mother pay bills.  He worked at Maplewood Poultry and Penobscot Poultry plants until the day they closed.  He also worked at the Sardine factory.  Meldon loved going to his mothers to mow her lawn and spend time with her. He loved to dress up as a Tribesman and march in the parades.  

 

There will be a celebration of life potluck from 5-7 p.m. for Meldon at the Tarratine Tribe #13, 153 Main Street, Belfast.  Please contact Lillie Maddocks 505-8117 if you would like to bring a dish.
