Brooks - Gerald M. Whitcomb, 68, of Brooks, ME, passed away on November 8, 2023, at his residence.


He was born June 10, 1955, in Bangor, Maine, the son of the late William and Eleanor (Ward) Whitcomb. Gerry attended Hampden Academy and after graduating he worked on a dairy farm and then continued his career being self-employed in the woods of Maine. He met and married Sandra Bernosky in 1984 spending 40 years together.

He started trapping at the age of 8 and continued up until he passed. Spending countless hours in the woods setting traps, checking for animals, and harvesting animals. Gerry and his wife Sandra spent many years skinning, fleshing, stretching, and getting their own furs ready for auctions. He loved fishing and will be remembered as an avid outdoorsman.



He was predeceased by his parents.


Gerry is survived by his loving wife of almost 40 years Sandra Whitcomb of Brooks; children Jamie Whitcomb and wife Tammy of Unity, Amy Whitcomb Brown and husband Craig of Freedom, Brian Bernosky and wife Alice of Bradford, Howard Whitcomb and friend Emma of Frankfort; several grandchildren and two great-granddaughters; siblings Lawrence Whitcomb and wife Lois of Newburgh, Terry Whitcomb and wife Debbie of Newburgh, Denis Whitcomb and friend Pam of Swanville, Sally Getchell of Florida, Shirley Lisenby of Hampden; several nieces and nephews and many special family and friends too numerous to name.


A Celebration of Life will be announced in the spring of 2024.
