Obituary of Alvin Luburton Giles Jr.
Alvin “Al” L. Giles Jr., 78, passed away peacefully on October 5, 2022. Al was born on June 3, 1944 in Framingham, Massachusetts to the late Alvin and Eleanor Giles. Al proudly served his country in the United States Army in both Germany and Korea and was a commercial appliance repairman for many years.
Al was not only a Mr. Fix-it, but could often be found assembling trains, planes, and dollhouses at Jamie's Miniatures. Over the years, Al crafted many intricate dollhouses for his beloved daughter and granddaughters. Al was also known for his greenthumb, planting many beautiful flowers and caring graciously for his tomato plants.
Al’s family will remember him as a dedicated family man, sharing many hobbies with his loved ones. Al shared many passions with his girls including roller skating, bicycling, karate, and painting, along with many life lessons.
Al was predeceased by his parents, Alvin Giles Sr., and Eleanor (Shippy) Giles, beloved sister Betty Zani, and brother Robert "Bobby" Giles. Surviving are his soulmate Jamie Lucas; daughter Derri Lucas and longtime partner David Oxton; his granddaughters, Kiana and Anastasia Oxton; his siblings, Richard Giles, Roland Giles and his wife Carol, Larry Giles and his wife Kathy; along with several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Graveside services will be held Sunday October 16th 11am at Grove Cemetery in Belfast. Memories and condolences may be shared on his tribute wall.
