More than a year after Dr. Siscoe's death, I came across his obituary.
For a number of years, when passing up the Coast, my wife and I'd stop by to see what was "new" in the shop.
Dr. Siscoe was always ready to chat about advances in fusion technology and science in general.
Good memories.

George was an inspiration to me for free thought as I was emerging from my religious cocoon of the Amish sect. I would stop occasionally and visit with him in his bookshop in Belfast. I wish now I’d have stopped more often! I will sorely miss his kind and inquisitive character! May you be comforted in his memory! Kenneth Copp, Amish Atheist.

Nancy,
So glad that Karen and I were able to visit you and George last September. It was really lovely and just a little magical.

Dear Nancy,
So very, very saddened to learn of the passing of George.
George was such an influential pioneer in space physics research, nationally and internationally.
I always valued my discussions with him.
I also so valued our visits — often annually — to the Old Professor’s Bookshop. Such a unique shop that so reflected his scholarly interests and his deep knowledge in both science and humanities.
Every best wish to you. And with my deepest sympathy.

I am thankful to have had rich conversations with George at his shop. As a young academician and psychologist new to the area I was fortunate to benefit from his excellent reading recommendations and encouragement. His love of the life of the mind and his omnivorous intellect were a delight and will be remembered. Thank you, George. Fareforward.

We were so saddened to hear of George's passing. As old (-ish) professors ourselves, his shop really stood out to us when we bought our new home in Belfast last year, and we enjoyed some fine conversations with him when we were in town. Learning about the Athanaeum series that he ran brings this loss even closer to our own hearts, as we have imagined just such an endeavor (bookstore included) for our own futures. Sending condolences and thoughts for peaceful passage. May his memory be a blessing!

Sorry to learn of George's passing. He seemed an unpretentious Renaissance man of sorts, engaged fully with multiple aspects of human endeavor. He will be missed by many, yet his consciousness may vibrate still!

I am so sorry to learn that George lost his fight against lymphoma. He has been such an important part of Belfast, with his shop and his efforts to enliven the community and welcome people into it. I will truly miss him. My condolences to Nancy, the rest of his family, and his many friends and colleagues.
