Obituary of Denis W. Cash

Denis W. Cash, born to Carroll and Gertrude Cash of Raymond Maine July 12, 1948, passed away at the age of 73, at his home in Liberty, Maine on January 7, 2022, in the arms of his wife and best friend of 44 years, Priscilla. Denis lived a life defined by hard work, providing for his family. Modeling what it really means to be a father, a husband, a brother, a son, a grandfather, and a good and well-respected man. His lighthearted laughter and good nature will forever be missed by all who knew and loved him. Denis was known as a skilled hunter and fisherman. This longstanding family outdoor tradition was one of many that he passed along to his four sons. Denis was fond of the remote Maine woods of the Moosehead Lake region known to most of the family over the years as “Up Country”, a destination for many summer vacations with his family as well as several hunting and fishing adventures with friends and brothers-in-law. His lessons of appreciation of wildlife will live on. Denis worked early on as a foreman in the Maine fiberglass canoe industry then for several decades as a carpenter doing anything from custom log homes to working handyman jobs for neighbors and friends. Denis is pre-deceased by his parents, his first wife Pauline “Polly” Cash, uncle and aunt Edward and Amy French, aunts Sarah, Elsie and Harriet, father and mother in- law Ben and Marion Edgecomb, brothers-in-law Charlie Adams, and Laurel Weeks, brother and sister-in-law John and Joyce Mehuren, brothers in law Bunk, Dale and Charlie Edgecomb. Denis is survived by his loving wife Priscilla Cash of Liberty; brother Bruce and wife Dale of North Carolina; sister Colleen and husband Ed Wynn of Montville; son Jeff and wife Teresa of Sorrento; son Brian of Belfast; son Glenn of Liberty; son and care giver Derrick of Liberty; grandchildren Zachary, Joseph, Cooper, Dennis, Justin and Autumn; great grandchildren Aiden, Samantha, and Malcolm; close friend and sister-in-law Paula Adams; sisters-in-law Nancy, Laura, Marie, and Sandra; and several cousins, nephews and nieces. A private family service will be held at a later date.
