Obituary of Paul W. Nickerson
PAUL W. NICKERSON, 70, passed away peacefully at his home in Brooks on December 7, 2011. He was born in Belfast November 17, 1941 to William and Verna (Paul) Nickerson. Paul was a life-long dairy farmer who looked forward to watching the barn swallows in the spring. He appreciated all the little joys in nature like watching the deer and turkeys and daffodils appearing at the end of winter. He had a keen sense of humor and an infectious grin. He loved and appreciated his family. Paul was a collector of antique cars and motorcycles and could often be seen at local drive-in rallies in the summer. He left this world saying to his niece “I tried to be the best person I could.”
Paul was predeceased by his parents and two sisters, Judy Yori in 2005 and Ruth Welch in 2008. Paul is survived by his beloved nieces and nephews, Judy's children, Elizabeth Yori and husband Sean Cash, Bill Yori and Thomas Yori, all of Brooks and Theresa Yori of Gardiner; also by his brother Robert Nickerson and wife Caroline of Pennsylvania and their daughters Cassie, Lucy and Emily Nickerson; and his sister Ruth's children, Roxy Crosby and husband Frank, Linda Dudley and husband Farley, Elaine Hustus and husband Dale, Steve Welch and wife Paula and Janice Welch; and his close friend and cousin Donald Nickerson and his wife Josephine of Monroe.
A remembrance gathering and pot luck dinner will be held at 1 p.m. January 7th 2012 at the Varney Building in Brooks. Please join us to celebrate the life of a wonderful man.
