Rita Elaine (Thompson) Littlefield, 68, of Belmont, died peacefully with her family at her side on October 14th. Rita was the youngest child of Ivan and Frances Thompson and spent her childhood in Morrill with her two sisters, Mary Jean and Nancy. Rita always enjoyed horseback riding, especially with her cousin Gail Thomas. Her passion for animals was passed onto her boys. She started caring for others early in her life and then worked at the Tall Pines Nursing Home Facility in Belfast for 27 years. In retirement, she enjoyed spending time with her animals at Belfast Park. She shared a home for the last two years with her heart sister, Fox Buck, her friend since childhood. She was predeceased by her parents, Ivan and Frances Thompson, and sister, Mary Jean Smith. She is survived by her sister Nancy and her husband Steve Hanon from New Gloucester. Her four sons and their spouses, Jere and Judy Waterman, Kerry and Angie Waterman, Brent and Kristen Waterman, and David and Casey Littlefield. Step daughters Mary Ann Sansouci and Nita and husband Thomas Benn, her most trusted friend Fox Buck, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. A special thanks to the wonderful staff at the Sussman House for managing her care at home. Services to celebrate Rita’s life will be held on October 30th, 1:30 PM at the Morrill Village Cemetery, Morrill Maine.
